Selected applicants were invited to pitch to an independent panel of judges in December after the submission of business plans was completed. The evaluation of the business plans was completed in November and December after which awardees were selected. Communication to applicants on their status was sent out in February.

The awards ceremony took place on 24 February 2021 where all 750 awardees of the Competition were announced. All awardees are subject to an ongoing document verification process prior to disbursement of funds. Awardees' documentation must be reviewed prior to funds disbursement.

Awards ceremony

The MbeleNaBiz Business Plan Competition Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 24 February 2021 at Kasarani. His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya will be attending the ceremony, where the 750 awardees of the Competition will be announced. The awardees have been notified and are expected to attend the ceremony.

Pitching of business plans

As part of the Competition process, Pitching will be conducted via 1-on-1 online video conferencing at fixed time slots between 08 December 2020 and 11 December 2020. Invited applicants must pitch their business plan to a panel. Please be prepared to set aside time for the pitch at the indicated time and date. Failure to pitch on the indicated time and date may result in elimination.

Submission deadline extended to 6 PM 31 August 2020 due to exceptional COVID circumstances.

Due to exceptional COVID circumstances, we are extending the submission deadline to 6 PM 31 August for the current stage of the #MbeleNaBiz Business Plan Competition.
There will be no further extensions to this deadline. Complete and submit your business plan now to compete for business grants of Ksh 900,000 or Ksh 3,600,000!
All applicants who are yet to submit business plans have been notified via SMS and email.

Shortlisted applicants to submit business plans by 24 August 2020.

MbeleNaBiz Business Plan Competition Update

The MbeleNaBiz Business Plan Competition has completed the scoring of applications and communicated the results of the first stage via email. 4,951 MbeleNaBiz applicants have been shortlisted and will soon be notified via email.
