Detailed update on the MbeleNaBiz Business Plan Competition process as on 08 July 2020.

  • All 12,171 applications received by 01 September 2019 were put through a rigorous process of screening and scoring. In this process, 11,466 applications were found eligible and were then put through 2 rounds of scoring by a panel of KPMG professionals using a defined scoring matrix.
  • During the scoring, 1,715 applications were seen to have large discrepancies in the scores awarded by 2 scorers, and thus were put through a third round of scoring by KPMG professionals.
  • The screening and scoring process was completed in March 2020 based on which 4,951 applicants were shortlisted to proceed to the next stage of the Competition.
  • All shortlisted applicants were notified that they will proceed to the next stage of the Competition via email on 30 Mar 2020. All rejected applicants were thanked for their participation and notified that they will not proceed to the next stages of the Competition via email on 01 April 2020.
  • To comply with the Presidential Directive on the management and mitigation of COVID -19, we had to scale down our operations and consequently, the implementation of the next stage of the Competition had been delayed to ensure everyone’s safety.
  • The MbeleNaBiz team has been working on developing innovative solutions to continue the Competition. As a result, we can open the application portal for the 4,951 applicants shortlisted in the previous stage to submit business plans in July 2020.
  • Please note that the Competition will only be accepting detailed business plans from these 4,951 shortlisted applicants and details on how to submit business plans will be sent directly to them via email.
  • If you are a shortlisted applicant, please await instructions on your email on how to submit your business plan. In case of any queries write to us at info@mbelenabiz.go.ke
